By now, you will have learnt that, as I don't actually do anything else (and am pretty happy with this), all I ever blog about is Rowan! If you don't like it, skip on down to the next post in your blog aggregator or something :-)
Anyway, on Thursday (when I started writing this) Rowan was 2 months old. Sleeping peacefully in his bouncy chair as I type. Over the last two months he has changed a lot. For a start he's put on about 4.5lb - he was weighed yesterday when he had his injections and he's now 12lb 6oz. He's already growing out of some of his 0-3 month clothes, and moving into his 3-6 months ones.
For the last month, he has been smiling - and it seems that every week he smiles much more often. Some random things that make him smile include : having his tummy tickled, having no nappy on, being smiled at, and my singing. This is a major thing for me as I can feel knackered and fed up, and he smiles and everything's ok again!
Sleeping and feeding wise, he's no more predictable than he was a few weeks ago, but I'm getting better at dealing with it. He's now taking expressed milk from a bottle (when he feels like it) but still waking at around 2-3 and 5-6, and often feeding almost constantly in the evening. When we're at home he seems to have a pretty good 2-3 hour routine including feeding, some awake time and a bit of a sleep. Unfortunately, the wind problems we thought had gone seem to have come back with a vengeance over the last few days, but we deal with it with the reliable gripe water.
We've been happily getting out and about almost every day - whether doing the shopping every few days, going to baby yoga, doing stuff with Jenny and the girls, or having coffee with my NCT ante natal group (including seeing Rowan's girlfriend Charlotte). You can see a poorly shot video of 5 of the 7 babies in the group here. This all helps me stay sane, although it doesn't do much for Rowan's routine. Over the next few weeks we're also starting Rhythm Time class, and the government provided post natal classes.
As of Friday, he's got a borrowed bumbo to sit in, and seems to quite like it, although he doesn't stay in it for long as after a while his head starts flopping.
Now we're off to glamorous Redditch to abuse a 20% off voucher in the early learning centre!
