If you've got time to kill, or an mp3 player/ipod that's playing the same old boring stuff over and over again, you might want to check out ...

• Republic - currently building up into something that's already gripping and enjoyable after only a couple of episodes. "A Novel of America's future" - tracing how terrorism and the government may just get out of control.
• One Among the Sleepless - nearly finished, but excellent stuff - set in Brighton, a few years ago, it follows a group of young people around. Will Gaz have his threesome with Sally? Will Mick and Sally get together? Why did Peter pour petrol through someone's letter box? What will happen to Wayne and his weird sexual desires? A word of caution - you probably don't want to listen to this if there is someone nearby, as they'll wonder why you've suddenly burst out laughing, seemingly at random.
• Jack Palms II - This is life - A crime novel; has only just started, and I'm not sure I'm into cop-drama, but it seems good so far.
