Phone spam.....

I'm no great fan of spam, in any variety (tinned, email, phone etc); so the other day I reconfigured our Asterisk server to require that inbound callers press '*' to speak to us, or get through to the answer phone. So far it seems to have cut out about 5 pointless calls - so that's good.

Worringly, I came across this PhoneMyPhone service (via TechCrunch), which thankfully only works in the US, but appears to be a teenagers wet dream.

• Want to pretend you have lots of friends?
• Need to get out of a meeting/class?
• Want to annoy that stupid ex-girl/boy friend?
• Or does your neighbour really piss you off?

Well, now for free, you can have their phone(s) rung, probably without trace...

I just hope it doesn't become available in the UK
