Well I always said that once I could get back into the semblence of a normal routine, I'd start exercising again properly, and this time it's sticking.
I had thought for a while that all the problems with my feet, and associated leg muscle issues would continue to cause me problems beyond the need to stretch a lot, but finally everything feels like its starting to ease up.
I've been going to the gym on average 3 times a week for the six weeks or so. Of course when I say "going to the gym" I mean to the David Lloyd centre to do some form of exercise. This means either the gym for a mostly CV workout, or to an aquafit class.
Jenny and I decided to go along to the aquafit, and have been loving it a lot, so try to go every week when we can. However this depends on getting someone, normally David (the husband variety) to watch one or both of the children, which is fine unless we have visitors or customers around. Also, Jenny's mum has started coming along, which is nice!
Anyway, David (the brother variety) came in a few weeks ago and showed me some different exercises to do (I'm fine with the CV stuff, but like to do something a little different too). Unfortunately I promptly forgot them all, and so all that changed was that I did a slightly slower hill walk, instead of a faster flat one. Anyway, yesterday we went into Bromsgrove to drop Casey back at David and Jenny's and get a bit of work done. We also decided to pop into the gym for a while. Anyway, David and Jenny joined us and David got me doing some light weight, high rep arm exercises. Unfortunately my arms only ever get exercised at aquafit (which is once a week if we're lucky) and they're now aching somewhat!
Tonight we're off to try something new - gym and aquafit in one go - also we're going to a different class, which means we might get a different instructor. We'll see how things go.
Getting to the point of the post at last, I'm pleased to say I'm at the point where I'm starting to not feel my calves hurting all the time (feet issues) and am able to start upping the speed/difficulty of various exercises. Which is satisfying. I'm also at the point where I'm really enjoying exercise again, which is a place where I've been before, but once I left it, found it really hard to get back. I'm hoping the related "I need less sleep and have more energy" stuff will kick in soon as we're ridiculously, hectically, wonderfully busy at work.
That is all.
