Podcasts

My favourite podcasts....

Here's a list of podcasts I currently listen to (or would recommend to others) often while running the mongrels in the morning, or driving to work :

They're in no particular order...

  • 7th Son - sci fi podcast, first episode was a little hard to follow due to a large number of characters
  • PHP Arch - PHP Architect / PHP Pro podcast, has interviews and interesting discussions (for php programmers at least).
  • LugRadio - Linux related podcast, can be quite funny but the presenters sometimes get carried away, or do parts I'm just not interested in. Recommended for interviews, and the annual LugRadio Live event.
  • IT Conversations - regular technical (not just IT) recordings of presentations and talks. Mostly US-centric. Some talks are totally uninteresting to me, while others are very good; it's a bit of a lottery.
  • Nina Kimberly - child safe, fantasy story, involving magic and dragons.
  • Singularity - Scifi story, quite interesting and enjoyable.
  • The Seventh Mountain - I keep thinking of Harry Potter when listening to this - another child safe magic fantasy novel. Enjoyable even so.
  • EarthCore - Scott Sigler's first podcast; excellent book, not child safe, contains language and 'lots and lots of violence'.
  • Ancestor - another Sigler podcast; more violence, more guts, more bad language.
  • Infection - the latest Sigler podcast; more guts, bad language, violence and disgusting moments. Listen to it. It is good (like all of the other Sigler ones).
  • Pocket and the Pendant - great child safe fantasy novel. I was hooked.

doing 2 at the moment

I am currently working my way through the 7th mountain and the pocket and the pendant, quite enjoying them.

Though I will say the narator on the 7th mountain is a bit cringeworthy

7th mountain - I agree

Yeah, I agree, her voice is a bit odd, but the story is quite good, and regardless of which I'm enjoying it :-) It's an excellent story for children too no doubt.... quite Harry Potter-esque, but perhaps I'm premature in saying that as the story hasn't finished yet.

David.

Thanks for listening!

I'm the author of Nina Kimberly the Merciless. Glad to hear you're enjoying my story! ^_^
