Training Update

As could have been predicted, I didn't actually walk from the train station into Bromsgrove yesterday. I took the lazy (plus dry and cheaper) route of getting the bus right into the town centre.

Today though, I've done somewhat better. I spent about an hour trawling the internet trying to find some more options for gyms that have a convenient enough location for me to be able to work it into my schedule (which is finally starting to sort of stabilise). I think I'm going to opt for one in Walsall town centre (called, unappealingly "Fitbods") because they're quite cheap (£60 for three months). I'll go in there tomorrow and see what the facilities are like. If all goes well I'll be able to go in at least a couple of times a week on the way into work to get a bit of a workout in (while staying dry and warm :-))

Also, I decided to take the doggies out, after trying out this site that David blogged about recently. I marked out a route, and the figures for distance didn't seem to match up with what my pedometer was telling me, so I decided to try it out. Unfortunately my foot is hurting (David (brother) thinks its just me breaking my trainers in) so I turned around earlier than I was planning to. When I got back, the pedometer said 0.7 miles, so I went upstairs and plotted the route around the streets (having carefully noted where I had gone) and the site said 1.4 miles. This is much more encouraging, and so I logged my "run" (does it make any difference that I am walking? I think not!) and can see the distance and pace and stuff.

The pace is, unfortunately, nowhere near what it needs to be the moonwalk. However, on the moonwalk I won't have to stop to wait for traffic or to pick up dog poo.
