Finally we've had a weekend where I don't feel like we haven't got enough done.
On saturday morning the plan was to go and fix my brother's (problem with his modem which turned out to be a trivial setting in the end) and his daughter's computers (didn't even ask David what the problem was as it was fixed very quickly) then we planned to take our weekly long walk. I asked if any combination of the family wanted to come with us, but my brother was heading off to the gym, so we took the girls with us so that David (the brother variety) and Jenny could go to the gym together for a change. While we were there we ended up buying an iAudio (same as ours) from ebay for Jenny's birthday (we're not paying for it, but they don't have much of a feedback rating on their account)
After a quick trip to the world's best sandwich shop for picnic provisions we headed off to the Lickey Hills for a nice walk. Munched the picnic in the car, then set off on the journey - Karimoor Emily-carrier at the ready because we didn't beleive her claim that she was going to walk "all the way". 5 minutes later I was carrying her around. We had a lovely walk which was slightly shorter than planned due to us following the wrong route, and was filled with hide and seek, lots of watching of doggies, and lots of nervousness from me as walking down slopes with emily leaning from side to side to see what's going on is not easy!
Rachel and David walked ahead chatting away while I tried to keep up! Once we got to the end, we discovered the dreaded playpark which we headed towards. Rachel and David went off to play on the "big kids" equipment while Emily and I went in the little house and she served me tea and a bacon sarnie. After a small toilet incident (which was more easily cleaned up than I had feared) and some unpleasantness from a few boys on the equipment which upset Rachel, we decided we'd had enough and headed home, everybody having had a nice time.
Headed back to David and Jenny's for a cup of tea, then went on home to go in B&Q before deciding to go for a curry and a film at the cinema. Curry was nice, film was not too good (Underworld Evolution). I might review it later but its probably not worth the effort.
Sunday was DIY day and David finished the plasterboarding and attempted to fill in the gaps with expanding foam while I finished cleaning the house and did some cooking.
The expanding foam did not work well and we shan't be trying that again. David dropped it everywhere and made a complete hash of it (I'm not claiming I could do it better but it was fairly funny (although the mess wasn't). I'm now unsure as to whether we're just going to get a plasterer in to do the skimming or if he has any more plans up his sleeve.
Anyway, now I'm going to head in to my office (having decided that I get less distracted in there) and get a good chunk of work done.

foam
It wasn't that bad; especially now it's set; It might have helped if I'd followed the instructions to the letter and moistened the surfaces I was applying it to. But I doubt it. It is now quite hard - but not as hard as I had hoped. The claim on the can that it expands "up to 45x in volume" was a slight lie - two cans should have expanded to about the same size as the table; and I clearly didn't get this result.
