No Dyfi Enduro 2008 for me :-(

For the last 5 years, I've done the Dyfi Enduro. And suffice to say, I was looking forward to doing it once more this year.
It didn't seem like long ago that I had checked the site to see if registration was open... today I checked again and discovered that it's been open and is now closed - 602 riders have registered for 600 places :-(.

(Although I do wonder how anyone outside of Bromsgrove will understand how/why I'm sometimes called Diffy.)
Few possible alternatives.
Ah what a shame I know you've enjoyed the ride and also performed pretty well in the past. I thought Chaserace had a duathlon (their spring duathlons are trail runs and road cycling it's the autumn ones which are all off road) on this date but it's a sprint triathlon and I know you're not too happy with your swimming so that's out but there are a few reasonably local alternatives to try but all of them a lot shorter than the enduro and mostly with little mud eating potential. :)
Tewkesbury Park Duathlon - 5km run - 24km bike - 5km run
Expensive at £18 for a race I'd finish in under 2 hours but you'd get to use your road bike in anger so that might be worth considering so you can join me on the dark side.
Schneider 5 Miler - think this is a road race (running) but could be off road can't discover which of the many Telford/Wrekin clubs is putting it on but it's listed in Runners World mag and online.
10k race in Tamworth for the same day is listed as cancelled now.
Or you could wait until Wednesday evening a join me in my first ever 10k if you can control the laughter at my finish time :) I'm planning on doing the Dudley Kingswinford Nike 10km in Wall Heath. It would be rude not too as I cycle that patch regularly and am considering joining Black Country Triathletes many of whom run in DK colours.
