So, it's finished. We're both quite tired, and ended up not staying at the Chin for the #lugradio get-together.
My lasting impressions of LugRadio Live 2007 are :
- There seemed to be fewer people this year than last
- Great venue - far roomier, but there seemed to be fewer stalls
- Wow, the local MP came along (thanks to Howard Berry)
- The UK's Open Rights Group seems to actually be doing something; and I should consider renewing some sort of subscription/donation scheme to them.
- The Neuros embedded Linux device looks quite cool; I'm very tempted to buy one to replace the slightly noisy Xbox with XMBC - especially as they're only $150 (LRL show discount)
- The goodie bags (aka Nut Sacks) were well stocked - most contained a random RedHat t-shirt, OpenSolaris dvd, Ubuntu cd and random relevant fliers (ukuug and pycon).
- Adam Sweet - in a thong. On stage. Oiled. *yuck*
- Waiting 3 hours to be served/fed in Matt's Curry house on Saturday night :-(
- Finding out about Bungee Connect (looks cool; must investigate)
- Buying tiny usb pen drives from the Linux Emporium, and getting a good deal on a tiny laptop
- O'Reilly giving a 35% discount (thank you Josette), and a book free to each member of the LRL crew.
I'm just wondering if the LugRadio-live thing has become a bit tired, or not. Perhaps I'm just pessimistic. It'll certainly be interesting to see how well it does in California next summer.
