Rough Ride 2007
Rough ride website
Like last year, I was unable to go down the night before, and camp; so instead had to leave early on Sunday morning.
Anyway, since last year a few things had changed :
- Staggered event start - we all had electronic tags on our bikes. This did help reduce the crush at the start of the race, and also means accurate times will be on the internet (eventually?)
- The route had changed somewhat, with the direction reversed for some sections, and totally new parts for others
- I'm sure there was less road, which is good
- The finish had changed totally; so there was no final killer hill - again another good thing :)
- There seemed to be more technical sections - with one really steep downhill section which was quite rutted
Once again, it was a great day out - even if I was cycling from 10am to nearly 5pm. Thankfully my body seemed more up for the task this year than last - and although it was quite humid (and I was perspiring freely) I didn't find myself knackered.
My pictures are online - I can't remember the url for the official ones at the moment...
Anyway, I had a great time, and wouldn't hesitate to do it again - even if that were tomorrow. Thanks to all the marshalls and organisers for a great day out.
